How ordering works

Last updated: 11 September 2026

This page describes the whole sequence end to end, because the individual steps are documented in different places and the shape of the process is not obvious from any one of them.

Before checkout

Pricing and purchase are gated behind an eligibility step rather than open to anonymous browsing. That is a deliberate design decision, not a technical limitation: it means the catalogue is browsable and readable by anyone while the transactional path is not.

Delivery country is set at this stage and determines pricing currency, the shipping page that applies to you, and whether the market is served at all.

Checkout and payment

Address details are validated at entry rather than after payment, which is what catches the failure mode that actually loses cold-chain parcels — a postcode or house number that is wrong in a way nobody notices until a courier cannot deliver.

Payment is handled by the payment provider rather than on our own pages, in the currency of the delivery market (see payment and currency by market). Order confirmation follows payment, and carries the reference you will need for any subsequent query.

Dispatch, transit and arrival

Orders placed before midday dispatch the same working day, cold-chain packed with an insulated box, a cooling element and a temperature indicator. Tracking is issued at dispatch, and there is no customs inside the single market to hold the parcel; windows are set out under delivery times across the EU.

On arrival, check the temperature indicator before unpacking and refrigerate immediately. What to do if a parcel is late or warm is covered separately, and the support channels are where to raise it.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not see prices straight away?

Pricing and purchase sit behind an eligibility step by design. The catalogue and all editorial content remain readable without it.

When does my order ship?

Orders placed before midday dispatch the same working day. Tracking is issued at dispatch.

What should I do when the parcel arrives?

Check the temperature indicator before unpacking, then refrigerate immediately.
